Virat Kohli on Monday took to Twitter to blast people trolling the actor, and his former girlfriend, Anushka Sharma on social media following India’s spectacular win over Australia on Sunday.

On Instagram, he wrote a longer post saying, "Shame on those people who have been having a go at anushka for the longest time and connecting every negative thing to her. Shame on those people calling themselves educated. Shame on blaming and making fun of her when she has no control over what i do with my sport. If anything she has only motivated and given me more positivity. This was long time coming. Shame on these people that hide and take a dig. And i dont need any respect for this post. Have some compassion and respect her. Think of how your sister or girlfriend or wife would feel if someone trolled them and very conveniently rubbished them in public. #nocompassion #nocommonsense"

Several Twitter users took a dig at Anushka Sharma, and some even “thanked” her for breaking off her relationship with Kohli.

This is however not the first time that Anushka has been trolled for Virat’s performance on the field.

Last year, Virat Kohli went out to bat against Australia in the World Cup semi-finals and got out after scoring just a single run. As soon as Virat got out, Anushka Sharma, who was present at the Sydney Cricket Ground watching the match, became the target of social media trolls with many abusing and blaming her.

On Sunday, India sealed a semifinal berth in the World Twenty20 after defeating Australia by six wickets in a do-or-die Group 2 match at IS Bindra stadium.

An "emotional" and "overwhelmed" Virat Kohli termed his exceptional 82-run knock against Australia his best in Twenty20 internationals. The Australian attack fizzled out in the face of Kohli’s onslaught as he single-handedly led India to the semifinals of the World Twenty20.

"This innings has to be in my top three, perhaps the top right now because I'm a bit emotional," Kohli said after being adjudged Man-of-the-match.

"I would like to thank the crowd, it was unbelievable, the support helps you push through those tough times. This is what you play cricket for. You need challenges in every game, they improve you as a cricketer. I don't know what to say, I am overwhelmed," he said.

Kohli also pointed out that presence of cool-headed skipper MS Dhoni at the other end was very crucial for him.

"Yuvi had a good partnership and then MS kept me calm I could have got very excited. It's a team effort," he said.
