Chiyan Vikram's upcoming bi-lingual  'Iru Mugan'  which also stars Nayanthara and Nithya is causing much excitement among the audience, way before its release.

The movie completed its censor formalities on Tuesday, and the makers have officially announced the release date. The film has been given a U/A certificate from the censor board and is all set for worldwide release on September 8, simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu.

Vikram, who plays a dual role in the film recently clarified in an interview that he doesn’t play a gay or transgender, as speculated by a section of the media. It’s just like an ‘A versus B’ clash.

The Tamil theatrical rights of the movie have been acquired by Auraa Cinemas, who are planning to release the film in more than 500 screens worldwide, while the Telugu theatrical rights have been acquired by Producer Krishna Reddy for a whopping Rs 8.5 crore.

The Anand Shankar mystery thriller is bankrolled by Shibu Thameens, who was the producer of Vijay's Puli. Nassar, Thambi Ramaiah, Bala, Satish and others are part of the cast. The film features Harris Jayaraj's music, RD Rajasekhar's cinematography and Bhuvan Srinivasan's editing.
