It was reported a while back that Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha are coming together for a project titled 96, and it was launched earlier this week. It’s a romantic journey of two souls and the title signifies the year both Vijay and Trisha meet each other for the first time.

Talking to Deccan Chronicle, Sethupathi said, “The title indicates the year of a school batch.” Asked if he thinks he could get away by playing a school-going teenager at 39, he said, “Haven’t you seen fat school boys? This starts when we are in Class XII.”

Reacting to a question on how he feels about acting alongside Trisha, he said, “When I did Naanum Rowdy Dhaan with Nayanthara, she was at the peak of her career — I was apprehensive about her willingness to act with me. Similarly, Trisha is very talented and has a huge fan following. I wondered if she would agree to be a part of the film, but she liked the script very much and has come on board.”

Slated to go on the floors very soon, the film marks the first-time collaboration of Trisha and Sethupathi. Asked if he thinks there would be any challenge in playing his character in the film, he said, “There’s no challenge involved in any kind of role. I don’t have to prove or impress anybody. My job is to be sincere to my script. I am passionate about what I do. I play a wildlife photographer in the film.”

Apart from 96, Sethupathi has a bevy of projects such as Vikram Vedha, Karuppan, Mamanithan and Seetha Kathi in his kitty.
