Basking in the success of his recent release iSmart Shankar, director Puri Jagannadh is now teaming up with Vijay Deverakonda. Actor Charmme took it to Twitter and announced thE project along with a picture of the three. She tweeted saying, “It’s official. Today is really happpyyyyy happyyyyy #Eid @TheDeverakonda @purijagan @PuriConnects #PCfilm #EidMubarak.

The project will be bankrolled by Puri and Charmme Kaur under Puri Jagannadh Touring Talkies and Puri Connects banner. While there were several reports also doing the rounds that Puri Jagannadh would be teaming up with KGF star Yash for his next. Looks like the director decided to go with the Dear Comrade star instead.

Director Puri Jagannadh was desperately in need of a big hit and finally managed to get it with his recent release iSmart Shankar. The film, starring Ram Pothineni, Nabha Natesh and Nidhhi Agerwal, hit the marquee on July 18. The film was bankrolled by actor Charmee along with Puri Jagannadh. iSmart Shankar has Brahmanandam, Rao Ramesh, Tanikella Bharani, Pavithra Lokesh among others in supporting roles. Mani Sharma had composed music for this flick with Raj Thota cranking the camera and Junaid Siddiqui in charge of editing. Shaik Jonny is the art director of iSmart Shankar with stunts choreographed by Real Satheesh.

On the other hand, Vijay Deverakonda’s recent release Dear Comrade which had hit the marquee on July 26 did not perform well at the box-office. Directed by Bharat Kamma, the film was produced by Y. Naveen, Y. Ravi Shankar and C. V. Mohan under the banner Mythri Movie Makers. Dear Comrade was made in Telugu and its dubbed versions were released in Kannada, Malayalam and Tamil. Meanwhile, famous Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar has bagged the Hindi remake rights of the film.
