Filmmaker Vetrimaaran, who is basking in the success of Dhanush starrer Asuran, has signed his next project and it will mark his first collaboration with producer Elred Kumar. The yet-untitled project was officially announced via a statement on Wednesday and it was further added that the rest of the cast and crew will be finalised in due course.
Elred Kumar returns to production with this project after a gap of three years. His last production venture was Jiiva and Kajal Aggarwal starrer Kavalai Vendam, an adult romantic comedy that was directed by Deekay.
Apparently, this film will feature actor-comedian Soori in the lead role and he’s teaming up with Vetrimaaran for the first time. In a recent media interaction, Soori said that he agreed to be a part of the project after hearing just one line of a story from Vetrimaaran.
“It’s every actor’s dream to work with Vetri sir. When he called and told me he has this story which he’d like to make with me, I didn’t even think for a minute to give my nod. We go on the floors from November.” Soori didn’t divulge any details regarding the film’s genre but he confirmed that he will be seen in a very different character.
Meanwhile, there are also reports that Vetrimaaran has a project with Suriya in the offing. The yet-untitled film will go on the floors next year and will most likely materialise after Suriya finishes his project with director Siva.
Vetrimaaran also will soon resume shoot on Vada Chennai 2, which will be about the rise of Dhanush as an accidental gangster from north Madras. His recent outing Asuran, the fourth time collaboration with Dhanush has turned out to be a blockbuster hit and the film has made its entry into the Rs 100 Crore club.
This becomes the first film for Dhanush which has touched the mark of 100 crores. While the makers are planning to host a big success meet, unfortunately, Dhanush will not be able to make it up for the success meet as he is currently shooting abroad.
