Sivakarthikeyan’s Velaikkaran is gearing up for a grand release next month. The film’s teaser was released recently and it was very well received. Earlier this week, the makers made a splash in the local newspapers by publishing a full-page ad of the film, which is against the rules of Producers’ Council. It is rumoured that the Council has slapped a fine of Rs 1 crore on the producer of the film.

However, reliable sources from the film’s unit have quashed rumours about the fine. “It’s true that we have received a notice from the Council for publishing full-page paper ad. But there is no fine of INR 1 crore as speculated by a section of the media,” a source said.

Being directed by Mohan Raja, the film also stars Nayanthara, who is teaming up with Sivakarthikeyan for the first time. In the film, it is said that there are many shades to the bond of Fahadh and Sivakarthikeyan, who are rumoured to be friends-turned-foe. According to director Mohan, he wanted a next-gen actor for the antagonist’s role. Talking to Times of India, he had said, “Fahadh is one of the very few actors in India who has been doing all kinds of challenging roles and bringing him on board helped me to create a new, evolved antagonist."

Fahadh is making his Tamil debut with this project and Mohan Raja believes he will leave a lasting impact with his role. After the runaway success of Remo for Siva and the critical and commercial acclaim for Mohan’s Thani Oruvan, all eyes are on Velaikkaran as it needs to be seen if they can continue their winning streak. The film is gearing up for a Dussehra release and will take Mahesh Babu’s Spyder head on at the box-office.
