It was announced much earlier that Chiranjeevi Sarja and Chetan Kumar would be playing the lead roles in the upcoming bilingual Kannada - Telugu movie Ranam. In this film, Chiru will be seen as an encounter specialist and Chetan Kumar as a revolutionary leader. The latest to join the sets of this film is Varalaxmi Sarathkumar. She will be playing a CBI officer in Ranam. She had made her debut in Sandalwood with the Sudeep starrer Maanikya in 2014 and three years later, acted in another Kannada movie Vismaya.

Besides Varu, the film will also have Dev Gill in the cast. The shooting of Ranam is currently on at the Minerva Mills in Bengaluru. Grand sets have been erected at the location by art director Srinivas and important scenes are being canned there. Producer Srinivas of RS Productions has been quoted by the cinemaexpress as stating, “A nine-day schedule has been planned for this particular fight sequence. It will go on till Sunday.”

Ranam is directed by V Samudra and bankrolled by R Srinivas. Guru Kiran will be composing music for the Kannada version and Niranjan Babu will be cranking the camera.  Another piece of information about this film is that its makers are planning to rope in a top hero from Sandalwood to make a cameo appearance and an official announcement regarding this will be made soon.

Besides Ranam, Chiranjeevi Sarja also has a number of other films in various stages of production. He recently signed a new project with debut director Naveen Reddy. The film will be produced by Tarun Shivappa and its shooting will commence in March. Vidyadhar has penned the film, with Ritvik of Sankashta Kara Ganapathy fame being roped in for scoring the music. Balu will be cranking the camera for this venture.
