The News Minute | November 18, 2014 | 06:35 pm ISTA few would know about the battle of Rezang La which was fought on 18th November 1962 where 114 out of 120 Indian soldiers from the 13 Kumaon gave up their lives in one battle during the Sino-Indian War. Rezang La had the drawback that an intervening feature blocked artillery operation, so that the Indian infantry had to do without artillery cover. Under the leadership of Major Shaitan Singh these courageous soldiers were able to take down 1700 Chinese soldiers. Major Shaitan Singh was later awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his actions.
