The Hyderabad police on Tuesday announced several traffic diversions that will be imposed in the city on Thursday and Friday, in order to ensure smooth flow of traffic and public safety in view of the Ganesha idol immersion processions in the city.

Over 5,500 police men have been deployed to avoid any kind of unlawful activities with anti-sabotage checks being arranged to sterilise the routes of processions in the city. A total of 2,369 big-sized idols are expected to be immersed on the final day.

According to a press note issued by the police on Tuesday, all the traffic coming from Hitech City, Madhapur to Kukatpally Y junction via Kaithlapur shall take Rainbow vista- Moospet road towards Kukatpally Y junction, Balanagar. The cops have advised all the traffic coming from Kukatpally to Madhapur and Hitech City to take the JNTU-Forum Mall road.

Police have closed the road from the IDL tank entrance to Rainbow vista T Junction for general public to facilitate the immersion process.

The Pragathinagar-JNTU road will be closed on Thursday from Pragathinagar Kaman to Srinivasa Steels, Adithya Nagar X Roads. Traffic from these routes will be diverted to Bachupally X Roads and Nizampet Kolan Rangava Reddy Gardens side respectively.

Police have ordered heavy vehicle drivers not to ply on the roads at BHEL X Road to Godrej Y junction, Balangar to Fatehnagar bridge, the stretch from Godrej to Erragada and the PVNR flyover.

All heavy vehicles (including buses) coming from Sangareedy, Patancheru and BHEL to Kukatpally should take a U-turn and proceed towards Lingampally, HCU, Gachibowli and Miyapur. Police have also added that heavy vehicles going to Ameerpet shall take a diversion at Miyapur X Roads and proceed towards Bachupally, Dindugal roads.

All vehicles carrying Ganesha idols from the colonies of Secunderabad can exit via Old Bowenpally, Mosque Road or the Harijan Basti. Vehicles carrying idols are strictly prohibited from using the Fatehnagar, CyberTowers, Forum and Gachibowli flyovers due to safety issues.
