The Hyderabad police on Monday announced several traffic diversions that will be imposed in the city on Tuesday, in order to ensure smooth flow of traffic and public safety on the occasion of the annual Bibi-Ka-Alam procession in the city.

The police said that the traffic restrictions and diversions will be in place between 11 am and 9 pm.

"Vehicular traffic will not be allowed towards Bibi-ka-Alawa at Sunargalli T-Junction and will be diverted towards Dabeerpura Darwaza and Ganga Nagar Nala in Yakutpura. Vehicular traffic will not be allowed towards Shaik Faiz Kaman and it will be diverted at Jabbar Hotel towards either Dabeerpura Darwaza or Chanchalguda," the police said in a press note.

Authorities added that traffic from Ethebar Chowk will be diverted either towards Kotla Alijah or Purani Haveli and will not be allowed towards Bada Bazar.

"When the procession reaches Ganga Nagar Nala in Yakutpura, the traffic coming from Purani Haveli will not be allowed towards Etebar Chowk and it will be diverted at Purani Haveli towards either Chatta bazar, Dabeerpura or SJ Rotary," the police said.

They also added that traffic coming from Moghalpura will be diverted at Bibi Bazar X roads towards either Paris Cafe or Talab katta side.

'When the procession reaches Etebar Chowk, the traffic coming from Mitti-ka-sher and Madina will be diverted at Gulzar House. When the procession reaches Kotla Alijah, traffic from Moghalpura water tank will be diverted at Hafez Danka Mosque," the police said.

The police added that when the procession reaches Charminar, the traffic will be diverted at Mitti-Ka-Sher Junction towards either Ghansi Bazar or Chelapura, or at Madina X Road towards City College.

"When the procession reaches Mir Alam Mandi, the traffic coming from Chaderghat Rotary, Noorkhan Bazar, Salarjung Museum and Shivaji Bridge will not be allowed towards Purani Haveli and it will be diverted towards Nayapool.

The police also said that district buses of the Road Transport Corporation (RTC), will also face some diversions until the procession ends.

The police also said that restrictions would be imposed in Secunderabad between 4 pm and 8:30 pm.

"The vehicular traffic proceeding from Hyderabad via Tankbund towards Karbala Maidan will be diverted at Children's Park towards Kavadiguda, Bible House and R.P.Road. Traffic proceeding from R P Road towards Karbala Maidan will be diverted at the Traffic Island near Bible House and will join the Tankbund Road at DBR Mills T-Junction," the police said. 

"Mahatma Gandhi Road between the Central Telegraph Island and Ranigunj will be a one-way towards Ranigunj side. The traffic will be diverted at Ranigunj Junction towards Ministers Road (KIMS Hospital) on a need basis," it added.

Bibi-Ka-Alam is an annual procession taken out by Shia Muslims during Muharram, where thousands participate, mourning the death of Imam Hussain and his followers, who was an important figure in Islam.
