Reports are that the Tovino Thomas starrer And the Oscar Goes To will hit the marquee next month. The release date of this film is yet to be revealed and an official announcement is on cards. Tovino Thomas will be seen playing a struggling film director.

Wielding the megaphone for And the Oscar Goes To is Salim Ahmed. Tovino’s character in the film is named Issak Ebrahem. Veteran actor Sreenivasan plays the role of Aravindan. Anu Sithara and an actor from abroad, whose name is not known yet, will be sharing screen space with Tovino Thomas in this entertainer.

The film has a very talented technical crew with Bijibal roped in to score the music, Madhu Ambat for cinematography and the Oscar winning sound engineer Resul Pookutty for sound mixing and designing. According to reports, a major portion of the film will be shot in the US and Canada and the locations have been earmarked for it.

Tovino Thomas, in an interview to The Times of India spoke in detail about working with the director. He said, “Salimikka is someone that I admire a lot. It’s about a film taking its director to the Oscars and so I had to draw a lot of inspiration from him. He has served as a jury member for several international film festivals and his movies have a following all around the world. When you are working with a director like that, you have so much to learn. His writing is intense and when you read the lines they tug at your heartstrings.”

Tovino’s last film release was Uyare, directed by Manu Ashok, who was an associate of the late filmmaker Rajesh Pillai. Parvathy plays the lead in the film, as an acid attack survivor. Tovino plays the character of Vishal Rajashekaran in the film.
