Tovino Thomas, who is the male lead in the upcoming Malayalam film And The Oscar Goes To… will be playing a struggling film director in it. The latest update about this film is that his character is named Issak Ebrahem.

We have earlier reported that veteran actor Sreenivasan plays the role Aravindan in the film.

Wielding the megaphone for And The Oscar Goes To… is Salim Ahamed. Anu Sithara and an actor from abroad, whose name is not known yet, will be sharing screen space with Tovino Thomas in this entertainer.

The film has a very talented technical crew with Bijibal roped in to score the music, Madhu Ambat for cinematography and Oscar winning sound engineer Resul Pookutty for sound mixing and designing.

According to reports, a major portion of the film will be shot in the US and Canada and the shooting locations have been earmarked.

Tovino Thomas, in an interview to the Times of India, raved about working with director Salim Ahamed, saying: “Salimikka is someone that I admire a lot. It’s about a film taking its director to the Oscars and so I had to draw a lot of inspiration from him. He has served as a jury member for several international film festivals and his movies have a following all around the world. When you are working with a director like that, you have so much to learn. His writing is intense and when you read the lines they tug at your heartstrings. And these are not scenes about death or grief but his take on routine incidents in our lives. I am a very emotional person and, in every scene, he’s incorporated such elements – be it about relationships or other incidents that I could connect well with because I work in the film industry.”
