Three dead in explosion at firecracker manufacturing unit in Andhra Pradesh

Three people were killed in an explosion at a fire-cracker manufacturing unit near Tadepalligudem in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh on Thursday, November 10. According to Ravi Prakash, Superintendent of Police, the incident took place between 8 pm and 8:20 pm and from the initial investigation, it looks like the explosion might have taken place after the firecrackers caught fire. 

A senior police official is reported to have said that there were at least 10 persons inside the manufacturing unit when the explosion took place. The deafening sound caused by the blast was heard far and wide, triggering panic among villagers in the vicinity. 

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed shock and grief over the death of 3 people and also announced an immediate compensation of 10 lakh rupees to the kin of the dead. CM has asked officials to ensure best of treatment to the injured. Officials were also ordered to take appropriate relief measures in the incident area.

In a similar incident, at least 6 persons died and 11 others sustained serious injuries after an explosion at a firecracker manufacturing unit in Usilampatti in Tamil Nadu’s Madurai district on the same day. The police, in this case, have registered a First Information Report (FIR) and an investigation is underway. Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin announced a solatium of Rs five lakh from the CM's Public Relief Fund to each of the families of the six dead workers.
