|The News Minute | March 15, 2015 | 6:12 p.m. IST |A farming couple from Doddaballur taluk who earn just Rs 11,000 per annum now have a reason to smile.A report in The Hindu on Sunday carries the story of Geetha N, the daughter of farmers Narasimha Murthy and Chikathayamma, who secured 13 gold medals at the convocation of the University of Agricultural Sciences in Bengaluru on Saturday.Geetha, whose parents couldn’t afford to bear the expenses of her education took up a loan for help and now wants to help the farming community. “I am pained to see farmers in distress, especially owing to crash in prices. I want to do something for them”, she is quoted as telling the newspaper.She is currently pursuing her post-graduate studies in Agricultural Genetics and Plant Breeding and has a fellowship from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research to boot.
