When Manoj Kumar Sikdar, a Kargil war veteran decided to look at crowd funding  to meet the medical expenses for his 7-year-old son Mihir, who is currently battling a rare genetic disease, he never expected such an overwhelming response."My phone has been continuously ringing and we have managed to raise up to 3.2 lakhs in just three days," Manoj tells The News Minute.Manoj who's son Mihir is suffering from Neurofibromatosis (Type 1) which causes chronic pain and growth of tumors along nerves in the skin, brain, and other parts of the body, had earlier decided to go for crowd funding after his Ex-Servicemen Central Health Scheme (ECHS) and the hospital raised its charges to Rs 8,500 a day.Read - This Kargil war veteran needs money to treat his 7-year-old son who is battling for his life"Many NGOs and people have come forward from other countries also and have expressed their willingness to donate for the cause. We are really grateful to everyone who spread the message through social media," Manoj adds.Manoj had also put out a video documenting his son's everyday struggle and to try and raise awareness about the incurable disease.
