Enraged after an alleged attempt of sexual assault, a woman from Karimnagar district in Telangana chopped off her husband’s penis. The incident took place in Sirisedu village, Ellandhakunta mandal on Monday at around 1.30 pm.
The husband was identified as R Ravinder (40). He is being treated at a hospital in Jammikunta, informed police.
According to reports, the woman and Ravinder quarrelled often. However, on Monday, after getting drunk, Ravinder tried to sexually assault her in front of her two kids. Outraged by his behaviour, the woman grabbed a knife and severed his genitals.
Speaking to TNM, Ellandhakunta SI Naresh said, "The incident took place on Monday, when R Ravinder (40) was harassing the woman after getting drunk. Neighbours told us that the couple often fought whenever Ravinder came home drunk. Unable to bear the harassment, she took a knife and chopped off his penis. We have filed a case under section 307 of IPC (attempt to murder) against the woman. Ravinder is now being treated at a government hospital in Jammikunta."
The SI further informed that the woman will be remanded in custody in another two days.
The woman who faces charges of attempt to murder remained defiant. She told media persons that her husband harassed her every time after he got drunk. However, as he tried to rape her in the presence of her kids, she became incensed and took the extreme action.
In July, in Tamil Nadu, in a similar incident, a wife had chopped off the penis of her husband, after coming to know that her husband was having an extramarital affair. The incident had taken place in Vellore district and the woman was later arrested.
