The Telangana government is all set to unveil a new IT policy that will encourage firms to set up facilities in various cities other than Hyderabad in a bid to ensure even economic development.

According to a report in The Hindu, the state government’s new IT policy will provide additional incentives to firms willing up set up facilities in tier-II and III cities.

Locations that the government will promote include Karimnagar, Khammam, Nizamabad and Warangal.

IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan told The Hindu, that the IT industry needs to go beyond Hyderabad. He said that unlike in the past, manpower availability and social infrastructure in smaller cities had improved.

However, the state government has to wait until the Greater Hyderabad Muncipal Corporation elections to roll out the policy as the Code of Conduct for the elections is in force.
