The governor made the statement during a Children's Day Celebration in Bengaluru. He said the studying the Vedas and other scriptures and preserving our cultures could reduce such incidents. The Times of India also quotes him as saying, "Don't get me wrong, but more the education, the less cultured our people are becoming".
