An 11-year-old boy afflicted with TB managed to find his way to J J Hospital in Mumbai, convinced that he would get medicine and food.

According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, on Wednesday Mintu boarded a train that would get him to the hospital, where he is now being treated.

He and his two older siblings were being looked after by relatives for around a year, but some time ago, they were told to fend for themselves.

Mintu’s mother has been convicted of a murder and is serving out her sentence since 2012. His father abandoned them soon after his mother was convicted. A month ago, a relative had brought him to the hospital for treatment, but when the medicine ran out, there was no money.

Finally, unable to bear the pain which did not even let him sleep, he walked to the station that would bring him close to where the hospital was. The local police have been contacted as Mintu does not have guardian.
