Tata Sons on Tuesday moved a caveat in the Bombay High Court to pre-empt any move by Cyrus Mistry to challenge his sacking as the Chairman of Tata Sons.

The caveat has been filed to ensure that the High Court does not pass any order on Mistry's plea without hearing Tata Sons.

A team of senior lawyers, including eminent counsel Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Harish Salve are advising the Tatas on the legalities involved in the matter. Singhvi left for Mumbai by the Tuesday evening flight to advise the Tatas on legal dimensions of the fallout of Mistry's sacking.

Singhvi told Times Now that almost the entire board of Tara Sons - seven out of nine - had lost confidence in Mistry. He said that the loss of confidence was palpable. Ratan Tata, the interim chairman, was committed to brand Tata and whatever he did was for the improvement of the group, Singhvi told the news channel.

Mistry was removed as Chairman of the Tara Sons board on Monday and replaced by Ratan Tata who would act as interim chairman till a replacement for Mistry is found. A search committee has already been constituted to fill the slot.
