Actor Samantha Akkineni on Sunday took to Twitter to announce the release date of her upcoming Tamil-Telugu bilingual paranormal thriller U-Turn, an eponymous remake of the Kannada film. Via a tweet and new poster, she confirmed that the film will hit the screens worldwide on September 13.

Sharing the poster of U-Turn, Sam wrote that here’s a film she believes in. Interestingly, her Tamil film Seemaraja also releases on the same day.

U-Turn also stars Bhumika Chawla, Rahul Ravindran and Aadhi in key roles.

The film revolves around the mystery behind the death of motorists who die tragic deaths after breaking traffic rules on a particular flyover in Bengaluru.

In January 2017, Samantha watched the film in a special screening in Bengaluru and immediately gave her nod to be part of the remake. At one point, it was rumoured that she was willing to produce the remake. However, ever since the announcement, there was no development with regards to the project for a long time.

A few months ago, rumours made the rounds that actor Nithya Menen was brought on board in place of Samantha and the project was supposed to go on the floors last year. However, in November 2017, director Pawan Kumar confirmed the project will roll from early 2018 last year. He had said that regular shooting will commence from February 2018.

It’s been a fabulous 2018 so far for Samantha with blockbusters such as Irumbu Thirai and Mahanati to her credit. Meanwhile, on Monday, her new project with hubby Naga Chaitanya was launched in Hyderabad. The as-yet-untitled film, to be directed by Ninnu Kori fame Shiva Nirvana, marks their fourth time collaboration.
