Tamannaah recently shot a retro number for the period flick KGF, which has Yash playing the lead role. According to sources close to the team, Tamannaah was roped in for the song as the filmmakers felt that she would be the right choice considering the fact that she is highly popular in the south Indian film circuit. With plans to release KGF in Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi besides Kannada, Tamannaah is a good choice for the number.

On doing a retro number for the first time in her career, Tamannaah reportedly told TOI, “This is the first time I will be doing a retro number. I’ve never had such a fun-filled fulfilling experience like I did on this dance sequence. It is a retro cabaret set-up and I’ve never attempted to do this before so, it was a learning experience of all sorts.”

The retro number, filmed on Yash and Tamannaah, and choreographed by Jani master, is a reinvented version of the song ‘Jokae naanu balliya minchu’ from the 1970 Dr Rajkumar starrer Paropakari. Reports say that Tamannaah was paid a whopping Rs 50 lakh just for this performance.

The talkie portions of the film have been wrapped up and this retro number was the only one that remained to be shot. The team had been scouting for a suitable actor to shake a leg for the special number and finally zeroed in on Tamannaah. She had done a special number in Sandalwood in the past in the Nikhil Kumaraswamy starrer Jaguar and this is her second outing.

Touted to be a high budget movie in Sandalwood, the film is being directed by Prashanth Neel, who has also written the story, screenplay and dialogues. While Yash and Srinidhi Shetty play the lead pair, the rest of the star cast includes Achyuth Kumar, Nassar, Malavika Avinash, Anant Nag and Vasishta N Simha. The film will be narrated by Anant Nag.

Vijay Kiragandur is bankrolling the project under his banner Hombale Films. The technical team comprises music director Ravi Basrur, cinematographer Bhuvan Gowda and art director Shivakumar.
