The on-going debate over whether to hold BBMP elections and trifurcate the body has reached new heights as petitioners are now knocking the doors of the Supreme Court against the Karnataka High Court's recent division bench verdict.The State Election Commission (SEC), three former councillors of the BBMP and Rajya Sabha MP Rajeev Chandrasekhar have petitioned the Supreme Court on Tuesday questioning the April 24 verdict, reported The Hindu. According the verdict, the BBMP need not hold the elections before May 30 as previously ordered by a single bench. The BBMP must now conduct elections within six months from April 18, which was the date of dissolution of the body.
