After the Karnataka Anti-Corruption Bureau filed two FIRs against BJP State President BS Yeddyurappa in the Shivarama Karanth Layout land denotification scam, the leader submitted a memorandum to Governor Vajubhai Vala on Monday.

The memorandum makes explosive allegations on the Congress government and states that the political advisor to the Home Minister and a close aide of CM Siddramaiah, Kempaiah and MN Reddi, DGP ABC had “misused their power” and resorted to “wire-tapping political opponents”.

The memorandum was signed by the leader of Opposition of Karnataka Assembly Jagadish Settar, Leader of Opposition in Vidhana Parishad, KS Eshwarappa, MP Prahalad Joshi, Deputy Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly R Ashok, Chikkamagaluru MLA CT Ravi, MLAs Suresh Kumar and Govind M Karjol.

“The above-mentioned team (Kempaiah and MN Reddi) has developed a modus operandi in which the phone numbers of political opponents are monitored. This is not only in violation of rights of liberty and privacy but also contrary to the constitutional and statutory provisions in force. But unfortunately, this is being practised by the state government by instructing these officials of phone tapping as a tool for political advantage,” the memorandum states.

It alleges that 16 false cases were filed against BS Yeddyurappa based on the CAG report, which were all quashed by the Karnataka High Court. It also alleges that CM Siddaramaiah is resorting to engineering false complaints through the “ACB and pseudo RTI activists with the sole intention to harm political opponents”.

The memorandum also mentions the killings of RSS and BJP activists in broad daylight in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mangaluru and other parts of Karnataka and the “government’s inaction to bring the culprits to justice”.

“The Lokayukta was set up to probe cases of corruption but an executive order was passed, creating the Anti Corruption Bureau where handpicked officials were appointed and instructed to prosecute opposition leaders and protect the present Chief Minister against corruption cases,” the memorandum adds.

The BJP leaders, through the memorandum, have sought the suspension of political advisor Kempaiah and ACB Chief MN Reddi.

“We urge your Excellency to direct the state government to immediately remove the investigating officers DySP Balaraj, DySP Anthony John and CPI Manjunath, who forced KAS officer Basavarajendra to file a false complaint against BS Yeddyurappa,” the letter states.
