The News Minute| September 2, 2014| 6.00 am IST Andhra Pradesh will have its state capital between Vijayawada and Guntur. The state cabinet has decided to establish the capital between these two districts. The AP Chief Minister is likely to make the announcement in the state assembly on Tuesday. The Indian Express reports that the cabinet has decided to look for alternative sites in Krishna district, if there are problems with land acquisition in Vijayawada-Guntur stretch The Sivaramakrishnan Committee which had studied feasibility of new AP capital had been against having a capital city in this stretch as it could cause ecological problems. Though the committee had not pinpointed a particular location, it had recommended three regions in AP where the capital could come up. This included districts in Rayalseema, Vizag and Kalahasti. However, the state cabinet seems inclined towards a new capital between Vijaywada and Guntur.
