Members of the State BJP on Thursday led a delegation to Governor Vajubhai Vala urging him to advise the government to hand over the  Lokayukta internal corruption probe to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).According to a report in Deccan Herald, the memorandum stated that ever since information on the alleged involvement of Ashwin Rao - son of Lokayukta Y Bhaskar Rao, had surfaced, the credibility of the institution was damaged. The delegation which was led by Member of Parliament P C Mohan, legislator B N Vijaykumar and other members of the BJP unit called on the governor to request the state government to seek CBI enquiry into the allegations. The memorandum states, “The ombudsman, who is expected to maintain utmost probity in public life, is himself mired in controversy and facing corruption charges.”It further said that the state government had helped its legislators in the past caught in Lokayukta investigation by transferring the cases and this too had contributed to the “deterioration of the institutional ethics”.
