Sri Rama Sene chief Pramod Muthalik has once again resorted to communal statements. During the Mathru Pooja celebration in Mangaluru on Sunday, Muthalik urged Hindus to stop doing business with Muslims and to economically boycott them, Deccan Chronicle reported.
“Muslims are opposing the construction of Rama Mandir at Ayodhya. They are also opposing the anti-cow slaughter bill. They don’t want to sing Vande Mataram,” Prajavani quoted him as saying.
According to the DC report, Muthalik said that until Muslims stop opposing the construction of the Ram Mandir and the anti-cow slaughter bill, Hindus must stop economic activities with them.
In his speech, he asked Hindus to stock weapons at homes and to worship them. “These are bad times and we need to protect ourselves from atrocities, terrorism and corruption,” he added.
“In Kerala, the population of Hindus has fallen below 50%. Muslims have been given permission to build mosques all over the country, it's unfortunate we cannot build the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya,” Muthalik was quoted by TOI.
In July, the Bengaluru’s High Grounds Police had registered a suo motu case after Muthalik and his supporters staged a protest before the Gandhi Statue near Anand Rao Circle in Bengaluru, attacking the Pejawar seer for hosting an Iftar party at the Udupi Sri Krishna Mutt.
Muthalik had said in his speech during the protest that there will be bloodshed if Iftar parties are held in temples henceforth.
In 2014, Muthalik had landed in another controversy after stating that Muslim artistes must be banned from garba events.
“We will ask them [organisers] to check the identity card of those who enter the venue. Even celebrities, if they are Muslim, should not be asked to perform,” he had said.
