Chinese phonemaker OnePlus’s next smartphone, the OnePlus 5, which will succeed the present OnePlus 3T, will reportedly be unveiled this summer.

Stating that the phone was not labelled OnePlus 4, because the number four is considered unlucky in China, The Verge reported that not much was known about the phone itself.

However, the report states that it may have a 'dual camera setup and high-end specs'.

Just last week, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed that the company was working on the new model, which would be a 'big surprise' for its consumers.

According to reports, the new phone is expected to have the latest Snapdragon processor, a 5.5-inch quad-HD display, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

In December last year, the company launched an upgraded version of its premium device - OnePlus 3T - which used the most powerful version of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor (2.35 GHz), in India.

The OnePlus 5 is rumoured to have an even better processor.

The 64GB variant of OnePlus 3T was launched at Rs 29,999 and the 128GB variant was launched at Rs 34,999 in India.

"We developed the OnePlus 3T to bring significant improvements with new technology that is available today, so that our customers do not have to wait for the best possible user experience," Pete Lau had told Indian reporters at the time.

Last month, the mobile manufacturer announced the release of limited editions of OnePlus 3T midnight black in the country

"We have been working on a black coloured OnePlus device for over a year now and are excited to bring this limited edition phone to India," Vikas Agarwal, General Manager of OnePlus India, said in a statement.

The OnePlus 3T midnight black featured space-grade aluminium with three applied dark coatings 14 microns thick.
