The verbal duel between former Congress MP Ramya and former chief minister and JD(S) state president HD Kumaraswamy seems to have aggravated into making personal attacks.
According to Times of India, it all started on Tuesday during JD(s) campaign in Mandya district for zilla and taluk panchayat elections, where he called the Mandya MP a ‘bad omen’.
He said,“Ever since she took the plunge into politics here, over 100 farmers committed suicide in the district.”
He went on to says that the MP uses her actor's charm and people get carried away by that, reported TOI.
“You should reject film actors and start recognizing leaders who work for the welfare of the people,'' Kumaraswamy said.
Ramya lashed back at the JD (s) leader’s comment on Twitter saying: “Kumaraswamy thinks that his aggressive view of referring to me as `bad omen' will de-settle me but he will have to try harder“.
“I have fought such ignominy previously and will keep challenging it in the future as well,”she said in another post.
While campaigning at Maralagala village in Srirangapatna taluk, Ramya on Wednesday pointed that Kumaraswamy also as links with the film industry and must not judge others from others’ association.
“I am saddened by Kumaraswamy's attack. He shouldn't speak ill about actors as he himself is a film producer. If he has no respect for actors, why is he producing a film for his son?” she asked.
However, Kumaraswamy who was campaigning in Holalu village of Mandya taluk, replied: “I made those allegations against Ramya the politician, not the actor. I have respect for actors and never speak lightly about women.”
Ramya went on to accuse Kumaraswamy, who recently accused Siddaramaiah for receiving expensive gifts, by saying “Kumaraswamy travels in luxury cars like Hummers, Audis and BMWs. I have seen him with actress Radhika Kumaraswamy, sporting gold watches when they are at home and he wears a cheaper watch in public. He doesn't have any credentials to speak about Siddaramaiah's watch.”
However, Kumarswamy refuted the allegations saying,“I can't recall Ramya visiting me. My friendship with Radhika is a personal matter. But it is public knowledge what Ramya did in London.''
However, Ramya defended herself by saying that he trip to London was study trip and demanded Kumaraswamy to reveal what he did during his regular, mysterious visits to Sri Lanka to which the JD(s) leader replied saying that only his wife had the right to ask about his visits to Sri Lanka.
