The Special Investigation Team probing the sexual assault and abduction of a prominent Malayalam actor is now grilling actor-director Nadirshah, who is a close friend of actor Dileep who has been arrested in the case.
Nadirshah’s interrogation began on Sunday morning, after a medical team examined him at the Aluva police club.
The director was summoned for questioning on Friday, however the interrogation had to be suspended because the director’s blood pressure shot up. Aluva Rural SP AV George is conducting the questioning.
This is the second time that the SIT is grilling the actor-director, who is a close friend of Dileep. On June 29, Nadirshah was interrogated along with Dileep for nearly 13 hours.
Dileep was arrested following the questioning, on July 10, and has been housed at the Aluva sub-jail for allegedly plotting the abduction and rape of the actor. T
he actor’s arrest came reportedly because the prime accused in the case - Sunil Kumar aka Pulsar Suni - named him during questioning.
Pulsar Suni has also said that Nadirshah was the one who gave him money on Dileep’s direction in order to carry out the crime.
The Kerala High Court on Wednesday expressed displeasure over the delay in concluding the case and asked Nadirshah to appear before the police on Friday and to cooperate with them.
Nadirshah had approached the court with the petition that the investigating team probing the case was threatening to book him in the case. He had also maintained that he was innocent and had no role in the crime.
The Angamaly magistrate court will consider Dileep’s bail application on Monday.
On Saturday, actor and Dileep’s wife Kavya Madhavan approached the Kerala High Court seeking anticipatory bail in the case. Kavya has also been named by Pulsar Suni, as the ‘madam’ to whom he allegedly gave a pen drive with a video of the crime.
