The News Minute | October 8, 2014 | 10.54 am IST Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has issued notices to “people who spread rumours” about him attending a puja during the Mysore Dasara celebrations without taking off his footwear. On the last of the Mysore Dasara, there were news reports stating that the Chief Minister had attended a puja for goddess Chamundeshwari and offered flowers without taking off his footwear. Siddaramaiah’s office had issued a press release denying these reports. During the Janata Darshana (people’s meeting) held in official residence on Monday, Siddaramaiah said: “I did not wear shoes while offering puja to goddess Chamundeshwari ahead of the Dasara procession. It was not right to start rumours after seeing that I had worn socks. Don’t I know how to behave in accordance with the occasion? The irresponsible behaviour of the media which hurt the sentiments of the people during the occasion was not right” He also said that he has directed officials to issue notices to those who had spread such rumours and added: “As the rumours continued even after a clarification was issued, it appears that it was done with mala fide intentions.”
