Shraddha Srinath to play IAS officer in Mohanlal's new film

The actor is making a comeback into the Malayalam film industry after 5 years.

Shraddha Srinath will be making a comeback into the Malayalam film industry after five years with the new Mohanlal starrer. To be directed by B Unni Krishnan, this untitled film will have Shraddha play the Revenue Divisional Officer.

On choosing the film, Shraddha had told in an interview to the Times of India, “There was no reason to say no, particularly with Mohanlal sir in it. And Unni sir gave a great narration. Also, I have constantly been trying to make a foray into Malayalam again after Kohinoor.”

The actor will be joining the sets of this film on November 23rd but before that she and her staff will have to go on quarantine for a week. Happy that the team is following strict safety measures in these hard times, Shraddha has told in the interview that she is confident and expects a disciplined shooting set.

Speaking about this high budget film, B Unni Krishnan has told in the interview, “It’s being made on a budget of Rs 18 crore. We have a bigger than usual crew by pandemic standards and the schedule is for 60 days.”

Revealing that this film will be a complete mass entertainer, the director pointed out that right now most Malayalam films are doing away with the stunt sequences due to the COVID – 19 situation but for this film they will shoot the stunt scenes with all the precautions in place. Unnikrishnan revealed that before filming the action scenes, the stunt master and his assistants will have to go under quarantine for 7 days and undergo the COVID 19 tests. Further, the team will have to maintain social distancing during the shooting. The director added that Rs. 30 lakhs have been allotted for COVID 19 precautions.

Scripted by Udayakrishna, this film is scheduled for Onam release next year. Besides Mohanlal and Shraddha Srinath in the lead roles, it will also have Saikumar, Siddique, Vijayaraghavan, Ashwin Kumar forming the supporting cast. With new that it will be an action entertainer, movie buffs are eager for more info on it.

It may be noted here that the Malayalam superstar Mohanlal joined the sets of Drishyam 2 last month after the coronavirus lockdown rules were relaxed. At present, the shooting is progressing well at a location in Thodupuzha in Kerala. Drishyam 2, the sequel to the hit film of the same title, has Mohanlal and Meena, who played the lead roles in Drishyam, reprise their roles along with Hansiba Hassan and Esther Anil playing their daughters. The star cast also includes Murali Gopy, Ganesh Kumar and Sai Kumar to play pivotal roles. 

Mohanlal currently has Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, in the post-production mode. Directed by Priyadarshan, Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham is based on the true-life of Kunjali Marakkar IV, who is the most popular of the Marakkars. The technical crew of Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham includes cinematographer Tirru and editor MS Ayyappan Nair.
