A petition on Change.Org asks the government to make the right to information accessible online in a bid to make things easier for both the applicant as well the information officer talking with providing information. Addressed to the Chief Minister, Governor, Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary to the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms and the head of the Janaspandana (outreach programme), the petition said that filing RTI applications online would save a lot of time and energy. The petition also claimed that Maharashtra had recently implemented the time. It also said that technological difficulties would not arise as the central government was already using the facility. So far, the petition has collected 2,500 signatures. Some of the reasons people have signed the petition include “I am signing because I want it next in Kerala and then all over India....” and “Right to information should be transparent to each citizen.” Tweet
