Director Shekhar Kammula’s Fidaa is all set for release on July 21 and he is confident that it would turn out to be a smash hit. The director has said in an interview that he had seen the movie thrice and opined that movie buffs would surely watch it at least twice or thrice at the theatres. Fidaa belongs to the romance genre in which an NRI from the US falls in love with a girl in Telangana.

Speaking about the film, he has been quoted by the Deccan Chronicle as saying, “I wanted to make a love story this time and the idea was in my mind from long. Since I went to the US many times, I have a special attachment to the place, and decided to do a film with such a backdrop.”

On having the Telangana region as the backdrop for the film, the director went on to say that the Bansuvada village in Nizamabad was ideal for the story he had in mind and thus the project materialised without any difficulty. Fidaa was supposed to be out at the theatres late last year but was postponed due to its lead star, Varun Tej’s injury, revealed the director.

Written and directed by Shekhar Kammula, the film has been bankrolled by Dil Raju under his banner Sri Venkateswara Creations. Starring Varun Tej and Sai Pallavi in the lead roles, it will mark the latter’s debut in the Telugu film industry. Shakthi Kanth has composed music for this film with Vijay C. Kumar wielding the camera and Marthand K Venkatesh editing it.
