Veteran cinematographer and director Venu has reportedly roped in Shane Nigam for a realistic thriller that he is to direct. We hear that Shane Nigam will be playing the role of an IT professional. GR Indugopan is scripting the film which has not been titled yet. Reports are that the shooting will begin during the first week of April and the preparations for it are on now.

Shane Nigam’s last film release was Oolu, which was released on September 20. It is a fantasy film directed by Shaji N Karun and written by T D Ramakrishnan. The film had Indrans, Kani Kusruti, and Esther Anil in important roles besides Shane Nigam. Oolu, which was produced by A V Anoop, was the opening film at the 49th International Film Festival of India last year. It was also screened at a few other major film festivals before its theatrical release in India. 

Shane Nigam is currently busy with Valiya Perunal, directed by Dimal Dennies. This film is in the post-production stage. He is also shooting for another Malayalam film titled Ullasam, directed by Jeevan Jojo.

Venu’s last film release was Carbon. The film had Fahadh Faasil playing the lead role with Mamta Mohandas as the female lead and Nedumudi Venu and Dileesh Pothan in significant roles along with Soubin Shahir, Ashokan, Vijayaraghavan, Lena, Master Chetan Lal, Sharafudheen and others. The technical crew of the film included Vishal Bhardwaj for music, KU Mohanan for cinematography and Bina Paul for editing. It was an adventure thriller shot extensively in forests, particularly in Kattapana in Idukki, and Erattupetta and Pala.

Before that he directed the Mammootty starrer Munnariyippu, based on a screenplay by Unni R. It has Mammootty playing a prisoner who can write well, and a woman journalist who tries to get him to write his autobiography.
