In 1976, a photograph taken on the surface of Mars became iconic because of the uncanny resemblance of a part of the rocky surface to the face of a human being. It came to be known as the Mars Man. Many theories sprouted up regarding what it actually could be, even after NASA said that it was just an optical illusion.
