Kamal Haasan-Shankar’s Indian 2 is currently being filmed, after considerable delay. While the film’s first-look was revealed for Pongal this year, the latest poster where Senapathy aka ‘Indian thatha’ stands tall was released on Independence Day.

Set against a city’s vista defined by its skyscrapers, the red-hued poster has Kamal’s iconic vigilante striking a pose in his old khaki Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose style outfit from India’s freedom struggle days.

While the first-look poster announced that the film’s shooting would begin from January 18, work officially began only on Monday this week. Reports say that the makers are planning on completing the shooting within the next six months.

Just last week, Kamal Haasan revealed in an episode of Bigg Boss Tamil Season 3 that he has removed his moustache since he’s required to shoot with a clean-shaven look for both Indian 2 and his upcoming political thriller, Thalaivan Irukkindran.

Popular cinematographer Ravi Varman, who has worked in films such as Anniyan, Kaatrin Mozhi and Jagga Jasoosopted out of Indian 2 as he has been signed for Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan, which will go on the floors from December. Ravi Varman was supposed to begin filming for Indian 2, which marks the reunion of Shankar and Kamal Haasan after two decades, from August but was unsure of completing it by December.

Meanwhile, Shankar is said to have signed lensman Rathnavelu as the replacement for Ravi Varman. Rathnavelu has just wrapped up work on Chiranjeevi’s magnum opus Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy.

Indian 2 also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Siddharth and Priya Bhavani Shankar in crucial roles. To be produced by Lyca Productions, the film will have music by Anirudh Ravichander.

The film’s dialogues will be penned by writer Jayamohan, lyricist Kabilan Vairamuthu and Lakshmi Saravanakumar while the prequel Indian had late writer Sujatha on board. This action drama has Jack Gill, Tadd Griffith and Peter Hein for stunt choreography and Sreekar Prasad editing it.
