Sattenapalli in Guntur may become first open defecation-free town in the country

The News Minute | January 6, 2015 | 7:40 pm IST Sattenapalli, a municipal town in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh has constructed more than 20,000 toilets within a span of 3 months and is well on its way to become the first open defecation-free Assembly constituency in the country. Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Sri Kodela Siva Prasad Rao is responsible for the constituency and was responsible for promoting the idea throughout the area, putting an end to open defecation for more than 1 lakh people. AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu impressed with this feat named Siva Prasad Rao as the brand ambassador for "Swachh Andhra Pradesh" Naidu requested the Speaker to devote time for the campaign and be the brand ambassador for focusing on the mission when the Assembly was not in session.
