Actor Samantha Akkineni, last seen on screen in Vijay’s Mersal, has an exciting line-up of films this year. On Saturday, she revealed that she has completed shooting her portion for Sivakarthikeyan’s Seemaraja, in which she has teamed up with Siva for the first time in her career.

Samantha shared the news on her twitter page:

In Seemaraja, directed by Ponram, Samantha will be seen playing a village belle, but the highlight of her character will be some action sequences. In order to play her character, she learnt silambam briefly and had even posted a video of her learning the traditional martial art form last year.

The film, which marks the return of Sivakarthikeyan in a rural avatar, has been predominantly shot in places such as Tenkasi, Madurai and Theni. The makers are hopeful of bringing the film to cinemas this summer. The project also stars Simran, who will be seen essaying a negative role.

Meanwhile, Naga Chaitanya and Samantha have inked a deal to play the lead pair in the Shiva Nirvana directorial, which will go on to the floors soon. This would be the first time the two will share the screen space post marriage. The star pair will be reuniting on the big screen after 2010 film Ye Maaya Chesave. The untitled project will be bankrolled by Sahu Garapati and Harish Peddi under the banner Shine Screens.

Samantha also awaits the release of Mahanati, the biopic on legendary southern actress Savitri. According to director Nag Ashwin, the film’s story will be narrated through the eyes of Samantha’s character. She also has Ram Charan’s rural action-drama Rangasthalam in her kitty.

In Tamil, she has Vishal’s Irumbuthirai. Samantha recently began shooting for the Telugu and Tamil remake of U-Turn, in which she plays an investigative journalist. Interestingly, Mahanati, Rangasthalam and Irumbuthirai are currently slated to hit the screens more or less on the same day. All the three films are targeting March 30 release.
