Director Vijay and the Premam girl Sai Pallavi were reported to team up for the Charlie remake in Tamil but now the director has made a change in that plan. Vijay is working on a fresh script and this project will go on the floors before the Charlie remake, we hear. Details about the film are expected to be out in a week’s time according to the director.

Vijay is reported to have told in an interview to the Times of India that, “Yes, I am doing a film with Sai, but can't speak about it yet. I should have more details about it in place in another week's time.” With Vijay’s directorial, Sai Pallavi will be making her debut in the Tamil film industry.

It may be mentioned here that the Malayalam film Charlie, directed by Martin Prakkat and written jointly by Prakkat and Unni R is a romantic entertainer that had Dulqur Salmaan and Parvathy in the lead roles. The star cast also included Aparna Gopinath, Nedumudi Venu, Chemban Vinod Jose, Kalpana, and Soubin Shahir among others. Gopi Sunder had composed music for this film with Shameer Mohammed editing it and Jomon T John cranking the camera. Opening to positive reviews, Charlie won eight awards at the 46th Kerala State Film Awards, including Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director and Best Cinematography.

While Vijay is busy with the groundwork for the new project, Sai Pallavi is busy playing the female lead in the Telugu movie Fidha and is expected to wrap it soon. Fidha is directed by maverick film director Shekhar Kammula and stars Varun Tej as the hero. It is produced by Dil Raju under the banner Sri Venkateswara Creations.
