Rupert Murdoch is the head of a media conglomerate that has been described by Business Insider as one of six companies that control 90 percent of the media in the United States.
Some time ago, when the attack in Australia happened, Rupert Murdoch was lambasted for his praise of his newspaper for having gotten a scoop.
Now, he has raised the hackles of ordinary people for his comments on the Charlie Hebdo killings by his comments on twitter. On Saturday, he said: “Maybe most Moslems peaceful, but until they recognize and destroy their growing jihadist cancer they must be held responsible.”
Maybe most Moslems peaceful, but until they recognize and destroy their growing jihadist cancer they must be held responsible.

And the responses have spanned the spectrum of courtesy, intelligence, sarcasm and abuse. One the best first:
@rupertmurdoch if I said to you "maybe most media people are peaceful, but until..." - do you see? How can you assign responsibility?
— Daniel (@cocodimama_uk) January 10, 2015
@rupertmurdoch In the same way that you must be held responsible for ordering the hacking of the voicemails of dead school children?
— Michael Monan (@MichaelMonan1) January 10, 2015
Other responses have also been on similar lines, while some people also pointed out the seriousness of his statement.
@rupertmurdoch and all Christians are responsible for your little mate George Bush invading Iraq "because God told him to". Fail, Rupe, fail

@rupertmurdoch You're helping nothing, as usual. Anyone stirring up conflict in society, it's you and your leash of hatemongers.

.@rupertmurdoch So I guess we're ready to have the conversation abt all Christians being responsible for the KKK & Westboro Baptist, right?

Rupert, is West responsible for our extremists, Anders Breivik? etc “@rupertmurdoch: Moslems .. must be held responsible.”
— Simon Edhouse (@SimonEdhouse) January 10, 2015
There were some who were a bit confused:
@rupertmurdoch Come on. I tend to sympathise with the sentiment, but “they must be held responsible”? That’s stark staring mad.
— Distant Cities (@distantcities) January 10, 2015
And the funny ones:
.@rupertmurdoch I'm gonna put a diaper on you.
— Imraan Siddiqi (@imraansiddiqi) January 10, 2015
@rupertmurdoch Are you on crack?
— Paul Lomax (@PaulLomax) January 10, 2015
For those who dint get the last tweet, crack is a form of cocaine that is smoked and gives an intense high. It is also highly addictive.
Murdoch is one of the most influential media owners in the world. An infographic by Business Insider in June 2012 shows that NewsCorp owns the top newspapers in three continents and these happen to be circulated in North America, in western Europe and Australia, a geographically unconnected region that is culturally diverse, but represents what is described as “the West”.
