The RSS has embarked on a history project that involves writing a history based on the Puranas and also a district-wise history of the country.
According to a report published by The Indian Express, an RSS affiliate organization called Akhil Bharat Itihaas Sankalan Yojana (ABISY) has kick-started a 10-year project called “Puranantargat Itihaas”. The report quotes an RSS leader as saying that the aim of the RSS was to “see history in the right perspective”.
Also in the offing is a history of around 600 tribal communities living in India.
The ABISY is also providing help to local historians to write the histories of their districts. The organization also maintains that there are 106 Puranas and not 18. For a detailed report, see The Indian Express report.
