The rage of ‘Rowdy Baby’ continues on the internet, as the peppy addictive song from the film Maari 2 hit 200 million views on YouTube. The song also surpassed the record of Sai Pallavi’s viral song ‘Vachinde’ from her Telugu film Fida.

Elated over the news, actor Dhanush wrote on Twitter, “200 million. Thank u Prabhu Deva sir. thank u jonny master. Thank u @thisisysr. Thank u @directormbalaji and team. Thank u dhee for ur magnetic voice. Thank u and congratulations @Sai_Pallavi92 on beating ur own record #vachinde. Thank u guys. For loving RB so much.” (sic)

Music director Yuvan Shankar Raja shared, “Alhamdhulillah, all praise to the almighty, thank you team maari this is huge.” (sic)

Rowdy Baby song features actors Sai Pallavi and Dhanush, and was choreographed by Padma Shri Prabhu Deva. In the song, Sai Pallavi proves why she’s the best dancer among contemporary actors. Ever since the music video was released, TikTok users have been emulating the moves of Sai Pallavi.

Lyrics for the song were written by Dhanush himself, who used the moniker ‘poetu’ Dhanush. He also sang the song along with Dhee, who is the daughter of music composer Santosh Narayanan.

Before hitting 200 million views, the song had also achieved the feat of being ranked 4 in the BillBoard list of popular YouTube songs.

Incidentally, ‘Rowdy Baby’ had broken the records held by both Dhanush and Sai Pallavi. While the first viral Tamil song, ‘Why this Kolaveri di’ which transcended languages had hit 175 million views on YouTube, Sai Pallavi’s ‘Vachinde’ had surpassed that record to hit 183 million views.

Almost after a decade, both Yuvan Shankar Raja and Dhanush worked together for Maari 2.

Trivia: 'Rowdy Baby’ was performed in the same film set, where once Sai Pallavi was rejected from the dance show, which was titled ‘Ungalil Yaar Adutha Prabhu Deva’. (Who’s the next Prabhu Deva).

Sharing that anecdote, Sai Pallavi had written earlier on Twitter, “When things don’t go the way you wish, remember, that if you’ve given your best, life blesses u with something even better. P.S. This pic was taken 10 yrs later in the same set in which we shot “Ungalil yaar adutha Prabhu Deva”. (sic)
