Keerthi Prakasam | The News Minute | May 30, 2014 | 6:50 PM IST The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee has passed a resolution praising Priyanka Gandhi, and criticizing the Indian National Congress’s central leadership harshly for the failure of their policies and decisions which led to the poor performance of the party in the Lok Sabha elections. This was passed after the committee met on Thursday to discuss about the party’s performance during this Lok Sabha elections. The resolution passed by the leaders of the Congress in the state says that due to the policies adopted by the party, the support base of the party eroded. This even helped the Bharatiya Janata Party to gain heavily in many constituencies like Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka. It says that the party was unable to project a good leader that could pull the crowd during elections. The state committee also noted that election campaigning was not up to the mark.Kerala is one among the few states that Congress performed fairly well during the polls. The Indian National Congress won 8 seats among the total 20 this election, while the Congress led United Democratic Front together won 12 seats. The dissent among the state Congress leaders regarding the defeat was getting more visible over the past few days. TH Mustafa, a Congress MP from Kerala publicly announced that Rahul Gandhi is more or less the “joker” in the party. Mustafa was later suspended for the remark. The party remarks that hike in oil prices, the issue of Aadhar card and many such policies distanced the public from the party. It also says that the party was also responsible for the singlehanded win of a party since 1984. Regarding Kerala the resolution says that the state withstood the influence of “religious fascist” parties like always and hence the BJP failed to open its account in the state. It also appeals to the Central leadership to work hard to gain the trust that people lost in the party. The state committee has also set up a group to study why the party lost in some key constituencies like Idukki, Palakkad and Chalakkudy. Former KPCC chief CV Padmarajan will head this three member group. With a state wing of the party passing such a resolution, it remains to be seen how the party High command will react
