To mark the 125th birth anniversary year of B R Ambedkar PM Modi on Monday laid the foundation stone of a state of the art memorial in the national capital.
The memorial hall is set to house the relics and records of Ambedkar’s lives and important aspects of his life.
The following are the highlights of PM Modi’s speech:
- I am the first PM who has come to speak here. It is a matter of great fortune
- Why was it that Ambedkar had to resign from the ministry? This part of history is either forgotten or diluted? When issue of equal rights to women came up, Babasaheb was clear that if women don’t get equal rights I can’t be a part of the ministry.
