A man was detained by police for sexually abusing and raping two minor girls at Kumaraswamy layout in Bengaluru.

According to the Bangalore Mirror report, the incident happened on Tuesday when the two girls, a six-year-old and a seven-year-old were playing in in their backyard in the afternoon. One of the girls was stripped and raped by the accused identified as Prakash, who is a repeat offender. The 20-year-old man, who is said to be an unemployed school dropout, let the girls go after the other girl let out a scream.

BM reported that the seven-year-old girl rushed to her landlord and complained about what happened.

The girl’s mother, who was out for a meeting in Kanakapura, had reportedly locked up the girl and her 3-year-old brother at home. She handed the keys to the landlord so that they could be given lunch if she didn’t return by noon. The landlord gave them food and the let the girl play, reported BM.

When the victim complained of pain to her mother and narrated the incident, she rushed to the accused’s house, which was locked.

BM reported that the neighbours did not lodge a complaint fearing that the girls’ image would be tainted. However on Wednesday the victim’s father filed a complaint.

“My wife and I decided to file complaint on Wednesday morning, to teach the pervert a lesson“, he said.

“We have detained the accused. His mother had recently requested the victim's landlord to find him a job. He was allotted a job in an under-construction building but went absconding from work,” said a police official.

“We will subject the accused to tests too and send him to prison. Prakash is a known delinquent and was beaten up by locals some months ago when he was caught stealing something, but a complaint was not filed,” said the officer.
