There have been rumours that Regina Cassandra has been roped in to play the female in Darshan’s upcoming film Kurukshetra. Reports suggested that she would be seen as Duryodhana’s wife Banumathi but this has been refuted by the filmmakers.

Apparently, no heroine has been selected for the role till now which has put an end to Regina’s inclusion in the star cast. Earlier, the lead star made it clear that he would have no role in selecting the female lead and that is left to the director to decide. Kurukshetra, which happens to be Darshan’s 50th film, will have him play the role of Duryodhana and the tale will be narrated from his point of view.

Directed by Naganna, the film is produced by Muni Ratna under his banner KCN Movies. The star cast includes Darshan as Duryodhana, Ambarish as Bheeshma, V Ravichandran as Krishna, Arjun Sarja as Karna, Sneha as Draupadi, Lakshmi as Kunti, Nikhil Kumar as Abhimanyu, Saikumar as Shakuni, Sonu Sood as Arjuna and P Ravishankar as Dushasana along with a host of other actors in supporting roles. Made on a budget of Rs 60 crores, the film’s technical crew includes V Harikrishna for music, Jay Vincent as director of cinematography, and Jo Ni Harsha as the editor.

It may be mentioned that the muhurat of the film happened with much fanfare in Bengaluru with the Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddharamaiah attending the event. The shooting of Kurukshetra is being held at the Ramoji Film City right now with grand sets erected for the purpose. Reports say that a major portion of the film would be shot here. We also hear from sources close to the film unit that Kurukshetra will be released in both 2D as well as 3D formats.
