21-year-old Vicky alias Narasimhamurthy, thought he had found his opportunity to escape from the police while being escorted by an elderly policeman at a Bengaluru court on Saturday. However, all he got out of his chance was a trip to the hospital with a fractured arm.

On Saturday, Vicky – a native of Andhra Pradesh accused of raping a minor girl from Bengaluru – was brought to the City Civil Court Complex. He was being produced before the magistrate after being charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

After he was remanded to judicial custody for a period of 12 days, Vicky was being escorted downstairs from the fourth floor by a policeman. Handcuffed, Vicky reportedly sat down on the steps and complained that he was feeling giddy, reports The New Indian Express.

While the policeman turned to call for help, Vicky attempted to escape by climbing down a water pipe. However, he lost his grip and fell to the third floor.

DCP (Central) Chandragupta told TNM that Vicky is still undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city. The police have also filed a case against Vicky under section 224 IPC (Resistance or obstruction by a person to his lawful apprehension.)

Vicky was arrested on Friday by Bagalagunte police, following a complaint by the parents a 15-year-old girl that Vicky kidnapped and raped her on February 14.
