The title of Akash Srivatsa’s upcoming film with Ramesh Aravind has been revealed to be Shivaji Surathkal. The title was revealed along with the first look of the film recently. Reports say that Ramesh Aravind will be playing the title role in this flick and will be seen as a detective. On choosing the title Shivaji Surathkal, Akash told Cinema Express in an interview, “We came up with the title after a long brainstorming session. Ramesh and I were thinking of a unique combination of two names, and finally we chose Shivaji and Surathkal.”

Adding more, the director said, “Ramesh has two shades in the film, and we have tried to break his regular image. The character he plays is very angry, moody, unpredictable, and he’s not nice to people, unlike Ramesh’s usual persona. His native place is Mangaluru, he is based in Mysuru, and travels to Madikere to investigate the case. Seventy per cent of the shoot is pending and the next schedule will resume from Monday. Radhika Chetan and Arohi Narayan will also be joining the sets then.”

The script for Shivaji Surathkal is penned jointly by Akash and Abhishek. On the film’s lead star Ramesh Aravind’s involvement in the project, Akash said that he has ideas to develop this detective entertainer into a franchise. He added that the veteran’s inputs have developed the project very well and given him complete confidence to direct it. The film will be bankrolled under the banner Anjanadri Cine Creations.

Judah Sandy has been signed to compose the tunes for the film, with lyrics by Jayanth Kaikinim and cinematography handled by Guruprasad MG.

Besides Shivaji Surathkal, Ramesh Aravind is also a part of Radhika Kumaraswamy’s Bhairadevi, in which he is playing the male lead. With both Ramesh as well as Radhika being well-known names in the Tamil and Telugu film circuits as well, Bhairadevi will be made in Kannada, Tamil and Telugu languages, say sources.
