Actor Rakul Preet Singh, who was last seen in Karthi’s Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru, currently has three Tamil projects at various stages of production in her kitty. The biggest among them happens to be Selvaraghavan’s NGK, in which she has been paired with Suriya for the first time. Having made her Tamil debut with 2013 film Puthagam, Rakul couldn’t gain a strong foothold in Tamil filmdom till she starred in Theeran. It was after working in Theeran, she was signed in quick succession for Karthik’s Dev, NGK and Sivakarthikeyan’s next film with Ravikumar.

On Monday, Rakul took to Twitter to announce that she has completed shooting for her portion in NGK, which is gearing up for a summer release. Rakul tweeted, "And it’s a wrap for NGK! What an amazing learning experience this has been with the genius Selvaraghavan sir and the most charismatic Suriya sir! Can’t wait for the madness to unfold!"

When NGK was first announced, it was supposed to hit the screens last Diwali along with Vijay’s Sarkar. However, the film had to miss Diwali release after Selvaraghavan fell ill and the shoot had to be stalled for a couple of weeks. The shoot was further delayed as Suriya went on to complete shooting a major portion of KV Anand’s Kaappaan as he had to sport a different look for it. The delay led to rumours of a rift between Selvaraghavan and Suriya, due to which the shoot had to be stalled.

NGK, which was officially launched in February 2018, also stars Sai Pallavi as the leading lady. Being produced by Dream Warrior Pictures, the film has been made on a lavish budget. Despite rumours doing the rounds that the film could be a revived version of Selvaraghavan’s Kaan, which was launched in 2016 and dropped, sources close to the makers have rubbished the reports and clarified that the team is working on a fresh subject. The film has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
